Sony CLIE PEG-TH55

Sony CLIE PEG-TH55, the new release of Sony having an awesome design has broken off the typical handheld keypad outline. The old Jog dial is gone now and a new high-resolution screen has taken its place.
It is superbly loaded with the multimedia features; particularly those who are fond of gadgets would certainly love this. It is significant to describe the in-built camera here.

With a vigorous shape of 7.3cm by 12.1cm by 1.57cm, this amazing piece actually looks like that you hold incredible piece to flaunt in your hands. The gracefully built CLIE PEG-TH55 gives a feel of a sober handheld. The 320-480 pixel TFT screen with the size 3.8 in, overlooks the face of the gadget. There is plethora of scope to view the applications. The TH55 weigh up about 185g, which is fair enough, in view of fact that it comprises Wi-Fi, built-in camera and Bluetooth. It’s strapping outer walls feels as if it could undergo some rough handling. However, the transparent gray plastic shielding screen cover does not feel practically as tough. Although it did not bear any scratches in our tests; but it did show many fingerprints. Moreover, it feels as if its hinges may break off easily if you are not careful. The good thing about the translucent cover is that just with a momentary look you can tell that which alarm just rang. However, Sony does not provide an extra safety case but there is a wrist strap with the device.

Pros:

  • Attractive color screen with a high-resolution
  • In-built digital camera
  • Total back up for the MP3 and multimedia
  • Incorporated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi facilities
  • Meticulous battery life
  • Robust software package

Cons:

  • Scroll wheel is located unconvincingly
  • Buttons positioned on the side look awkward
  • Non- replaceable battery
  • No Mac back up

Final Word:

Sony has provided a package of software with this gadget, such as the (i) Pixel Viewer for viewing PDFs though they cannot be edited,(ii) Excel files,(iii)Microsoft Word, (iv)Decuma, a cool substitute to Graffiti; and (v) the attractive CLIE Launcher for plot a route between the applications. One advice about installing software is that, it requires several restarts of the PC, takes a long time, and is too blurred about which files are required to be installed, which is the spare one, and which are only sample versions. There is also no back up for Macs.
